Maratona is a new brand within the cycle clothing market. The business was created by Simon Car, a former award winning creative from the advertising world and a keen cyclist and time trialler. Simon felt there was something missing from the cycle fashion market. Choice for cyclists has grown incrementally with the explosion in cycling popularity. However, many brands, particulalry the smaller ones, have focused on the visual look of their products at the expense of function.
Maratona made the decision to seek out the right suppliers for their range. While the products needed to look unique, with a different approach to the visual designs, they also needed to be at the cutting edge of cycling garment technology. Both with the function of the fabrics and fit and performance.
Using fine Italian fabrics, Maratona cycling garments are manufactured in Belgium – A country steeped in cycle racing history. The main factory has many years of cycle clothing development and is at the forefront of technical excellence and cycle clothing research. A measure of this would be their success in bike racing. Many european road race teams trust them and their thinking. At the 2016 Olympics the road race winner – Greg Van Avermaet wore kit designed and manufactured by them, along with many of the velodrome winning teams.
Maratona has set-out to offer great, technically excellent bike apparel, but at a reasonable price. This has been achieved with their online only model, cutting out supply stages, like retail stores, that would add layers of mark-up to the final cost of our products.
Unique designs, refreshed on a regular basis that leave you looking original and confident on your bike. Technically excellent, feature packed products, both in proven international race-winning design and using cutting-edge Italian fabrics. Delivered at a reasonable price with a strong customer first ethic and back-up.
